The Museum of Krajina in Negotin was founded in 1934 on the initiative of local enthusiasts, following the celebration of the centenary of the liberation of the Timok region from Ottoman rule. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the most important cultural institutions in Eastern Serbia.

Today, the museum preserves more than 15,000 artifacts and includes several buildings and sites: the central museum building, the Birth House of Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac, the Hajduk Veljko Museum, the Birth House of Momcilo Rankovic in Rajac, and the archaeological site Vrelo–Sarkamen.

The permanent exhibition follows the development of Negotin and its surroundings from prehistory to the modern era. Visitors can see archaeological finds, objects from everyday life, traditional costumes, craft tools, as well as documents and works of art that testify to the history and culture of this region.

Particularly significant are the museum’s collections: the archaeological collection, which includes artifacts from prehistory to the Middle Ages; the ethnological collection, presenting rural and urban life in the Negotin Krajina during the 19th and 20th centuries; the historical collection, featuring exhibits related to important events and personalities of the region; and the art collection, containing works created from the 19th century to the present day.

Today, the Museum of Krajina represents an important institution for preserving the cultural heritage and identity of the Negotin Krajina, offering visitors a unique insight into the history, traditions, and art of this part of Serbia.
